The conference “Let’s Talk About Sprinklers Again”, held in Milan on 18 June 2025, marked an important milestone for the Italian fire protection sector, bringing visibility and momentum to the Italian Fire Sprinkler Network (IFSN) – better known as Sprinkler Italia: the first national network dedicated to promoting technical and regulatory knowledge on sprinkler and water mist systems.
The association, established in collaboration with the European Fire Sprinkler Network (EFSN), aims to serve as an independent reference point for designers, operators, and industry professionals. A project strongly supported by Sebino, which from the beginning felt the need to promote a structured Italian network capable of supporting technical dialogue, training, and the exchange of best practices nationwide.
The conference was the association’s first public event and opened with an introductory speech by President Luciano Nigro, who outlined the goals, structure, and value of Sprinkler Italia within the European regulatory framework. The event attracted numerous professionals, companies, and institutional representatives. Key topics included: the evolution of standards (EN 12845, EN 12259-12, EN 14972), the connection between performance-based codes and active protection systems, and the urgency of raising awareness about the effectiveness of sprinkler systems.
Sebino contributed with a technical presentation focused on two essential aspects of proper system design:
- the distinction between minimum wall thickness requirements and nominal pipe tolerances in steel pipes;
- the practice of pre-welding sprinkler outlets onto steel pipes, with a focus on potential installation risks.
With this first public event, Sprinkler Italia presents itself as an open, authoritative, and practical network, looking ahead with the goal of building an informed and evolving technical dialogue around a key technology for fire safety.
